Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics looked to become the first team in franchise history to go undefeated on a six-game road trip.
On Monday night, Tatum and the Celtics closed out their road trip against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that defeated the Celtics at TD Garden in December.
After Memphis went into the second quarter with a seven-point lead, the Celtics were able to storm back and go into halftime up 66-61.
Both teams and officials made their way to the locker room for the short break, per usual. However, one of the officials was not able to return.
Before the third quarter began, only two officials, Tony Brothers and Mark Lindsay, were able to return to the TNT broadcast game. The third, Matt Kallio, was unable to return after suffering an apparent injury.
he NBA announced that the game would continue with just two officials.
"Following halftime, official Matt Kallio stayed back in the officials’ locker room with an apparent injury; officials Tony Brothers and Mark Lindsay will continue to officiate tonight's game in Memphis," NBA Official wrote on X.
The Celtics came into the game shorthanded, missing NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown due to a right knee posterior impingement.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, let go of coach Taylor Jenkins, making way for Tuomas Iisalo as the interim coach. Iisalo coached Memphis in Saturday's loss to the Lakers, making the Celtics game his second.
