Carmelo Anthony headlines Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 finalists

   

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced 17 finalists for the 2025 class on Friday, including Carmelo Anthony, Sue Bird and Maya Moore.

The announcement was made on Friday in San Francisco as the NBA All-Star Weekend kicked off. The nominees included ten players, four coaches, a referee and the 2008 US Olympic Men’s Basketball Team. The finalists will be put forth to the Honors Committee to be considered for election as a member of the Class of 2025.

Joining Anthony, Bird and Moore among the nominees were former players Dwight Howard, Marques Johnson, Buck Williams and Cal Brody. Billy Donovan, Mark Few and Jerry Walsh highlighted the coaching nominees, while the Women’s Committee nominated Jennifer Azzi and Sylvia Fowles in addition to Bird and Moore.

Other nominations included retired referee Danny Crawford, Molly Colin, Duan Ivkovic and Heat owner Micky Arison.

The entire Class of 2025 will be announced in San Antonio on Saturday, April 5, at the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
