Vancouver citizens got quit the surprise on their daily coffee run!
The Vancouver Canucks released a video across social media channels on Thursday, which featured wingers Conor Garland and Dakota Joshua spending the day working the drive-thru at a Tim Hortons’ in Vancouver.
The video featured several hilarious moments, including the Canucks’ duo messing up a payment and giving one customer a free order, or one fan getting his goalie pads signed and then proceeding to criticize their play at points of the playoffs. Perhaps best of all? Garland remarked that the duo’s task was about to get harder and that “this is where the pressure hits” before Joshua responded with one of Rick Tocchet’s most-used phrases: “Meet pressure with pressure.”
The video was part of Tim Hortons’ celebration of the 10th anniversary of Tim Hortons’ trading cards. Introduced in 2015, Tim Hortons has offered customers the chance to collect special edition hockey cards of the league’s best players. The Canucks players included in this year’s collection were Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller, Thatcher Demko, and Brock Boeser.
Garland has been off to an excellent start to the season, with 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points in 11 games so far. That current pace would give him 74 points in a full 82-game season, which would well surpass his previous mark of 52-points set in 2021-22.
Joshua has yet to get into a game this season, as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer over the summer and is currently recovering from the surgery that successfully removed the tumour. He had a breakout season last year, with 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points in 63 games, with all three stats being career highs. Joshua also had 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points in 13 games during the Canucks’ playoff run last spring.
The Canucks will look to build off of back-to-back wins to start their California road trip when they conclude that trip against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. PST. Vancouver currently sits in third place in the Pacific Division with a 6-2-3 record after 11 games.
