Can Commanders' 'Upside' Morph Into Super Bowl Reality?-copy

The Washington Commanders are going to be a fascinating watch this upcoming season, with all eyes on Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels to see if they can continue the franchise's ascension.

After a surprising 2024 season that saw the Commanders reach the NFC Championship game after a four-win 2023 season, attention now turns to whether or not they can double down and go again.

Of course, adding Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil helps with that, but those two must return to their Pro Bowl form, along with the rest of the roster improving.

For Fox Sports' Ben Arthur, in using one word to describe the Commanders' offseason - and, ultimately, how it ties to their Super Bowl chances - he uses "upside."

"Jayden Daniels is on a superstar trajectory after one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in league history," Arthur writes. "The Commanders have been savvy about building around him (and his cheap contract) too, trading for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Washington also added a first-round offensive tackle in Josh Conerly Jr. and re-signed tight end Zach Ertz. This is a team set to compete for Super Bowls for many years to come."

There is no denying Washington's upside, especially with Daniels on his rookie deal; however, the Terry McLaurin contract saga is a blight on the positive vibes this offseason.

Yes, we are sure things will eventually get worked out, but it does seem odd that a team in "win-now" mode does not seem excited to tie down its star receiver.

Once that is done, the Commanders can look to potentially go on a deep playoff run yet again.

The upside is there - can they cash in?
