Caleb Williams Reveals History-Making Goal For 2025

Caleb Williams will be hoping to cast-off the curse of the Chicago Bears quarterback in 2025. Something fans hope even more than he does.

And whilst the goal, obviously, is team success and ideally a playoff run – and potentially more – Williams has some personal ambitions of his own coming into the year.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday at the start of training camp, Williams stated his desire to do something that no Bears quarterback has ever managed in the team’s 105 year history – throw for 4,000 yards – a feat that at least one quarterback from every other active NFL franchise has managed.

#Bears QB Caleb Williams says a couple of his personal goals this season are to become the first 4,000-yard passer in franchise history and to complete 70% of his passes.

Caleb Williams Aiming To Be The First 4,000 Yard Passer In Bears History

“Obviously I have self goals,” Williams announced on Tuesday, “and that’s being the first 4,000 yard passer in Bears history, that’s a goal of mine. 70% completion: it helps the team, keeps us on the field, puts us in better positions.”

The former USC star also noted that beyond that, any success that he personally has is necessarily linked to that of the Bears.

“And then other than that just trying to go down and score the most points we can with these drives that we have. So that’s kind of my self goal and obviously other than that – you gotta go “win”. Success for me is success for the team, and that’s all we wish for and all I wish for.”

Williams Emphasizes Importance Of Team Success Over Individual Accolades

In classic football fashion, Williams made it clear that the #1 aim for him – as it should be – is to put the team in a position to win week-in, week-out.

But to break that deadlock and finally hit 4,000 yards; especially if he eclipses it with ease, would put him into the history books of the franchise.

And perhaps more importantly, it would prove to the fans that he is in fact the real deal, the QB to come and turn around the abysmal history of the franchise at the position.

What Are Reasonable Expectations For Caleb Williams In 2025?

“Reasonable” is perhaps the operative word here. 4,000 yards passing is more than doable – without question. 70% completion percentage, on the other hand, will be a bit trickier.

Of the quarterbacks who attempted at least 50 passes in 2024, just five managed to obtain a completion percentage of 70% or more: Jared Goff, Tua Tagovailoa, Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield, Joe Burrow and Geno Smith.

Whilst it is very possible that Williams surpasses many – or indeed all (with the exception of perennial MVP candidate, Burrow) over the course of this upcoming season with regards to his ability and production, younger players can struggle to maintain that elite level accuracy early on in their careers, despite accuracy ability for players generally not changing much from college to the pros.

The main goal will be to win games, and Caleb believes he’s the man for that.
