Wednesday morning, the Chicago Bears shocked the NFL with their second trade in two days. This time, it was much bigger than the first move they had made.
Let's rewind real quick. On Tuesday, the Bears traded for Los Angeles Rams guard Jonah Jackson and in doing so, they theoretically locked down one of the starting spots which was previously vacant.
To follow up the Jackson trade, the Bears went after a much bigger target on Wednesday by acquiring Kansas City Chiefs guard Joe Thuney. The four-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro comes to Chicago as maybe the most polished guard in all of football.
It was truly a massive move for general manager Ryan Poles. What was maybe more massive than the move itself was the statement made with the trade. The Bears are, indeed, doing everything they can to put Caleb Williams in position to succeed and be protected.
Speaking of Williams, the second-year quarterback saw the move and offered instant approval.
It didn't take long for Caleb Williams to react to the Joe Thuney trade
When the news of the Thuney trade broke via the NFL's official social media account, Williams almost instantaneously "liked" the post in approval.
Although he may not post as often as some players, Williams is certainly active on social media. He pays attention. And, when big moves like this are made, he clearly wants to go check out the buzz and reactions while offering his own.
In Thuney, the Bears get arguably the best guard in football who made a switch to tackle last year in effort to help shore up the Chiefs' needs at the position. While he looked out of place at tackle, he won't be playing there in Chicago.
