The Philadelphia 76ers have won merely three games since defeating the Chicago Bulls on January 25. The Sixers are 3-9 over this stretch, riding a losing streak of seven straight. The Bulls haven't fared much better than Philadelphia since late January.
Following the loss to the 76ers on January 25, Chicago has won just three games yet lost eight. Like Philadelphia, the Bulls haven't won in quite some time. Chicago has lost six consecutive games—the second-longest losing streak in the NBA. However, one of the streaks will end as Chicago faces off against Philadelphia on Monday, February 24.
Several Chicago reserves will be absent from the lineup
Heading to the City of Brotherly Love, the Bulls will be without several key reserves. First, Patrick Williams remains out after receiving platelet-rich plasma injections to heal an ailing right knee. The second and third players already ruled out suffered injuries in Chicago's loss against the New York Knicks on February 20.
Ayo Dosunmu and Jalen Smith are slated to miss their second consecutive contest. Dosunmu exited the game early, unable to raise his left arm above his head as he dealt with a stinger. The 6-foot-5 guard has reportedly suffered a left shoulder subluxation. Smith's injury occurred minutes into the game. The reserve big man took a shoulder to the chin and was subsequently ruled out with a concussion.
Philadelphia to be without Embiid, Maxey's status is up-in-the-air
The 76ers injury report is less cut and dry. Philadelphia's two best players are on the mend leading up to the 6:00 p.m. showdown. Former MVP Joel Embiid is dealing with swelling in his left knee. The 7-footer has already missed 37 games this season and will miss his 38th tonight.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Embiid will be absent from Philadelphia's lineup as he continues to consult with doctors and collaborate with specialists after completing new imaging today. There seems to be a decent chance the Sixers sideline Embiid for the rest of the season amid a disappointing campaign.
Embii'd running mate, Maxey, popped up on the injury report following Philadelphia's last-second loss to the Brooklyn Nets over the weekend. The star guard is dealing with a right finger sprain. He's currently a game-time decision. The pre-game shootaround will ultimately determine if Maxey will suit up.
