Methodical. In noticeable contrast to the majority of 2024-25 NBA minutes, the Chicago Bulls started the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks in a methodical fashion. Despite the Bulls' philosophical focus on transition offense, the Bulls scored zero fast break points in the first quarter of the game.
Buck reserve AJ Green hit the Bulls hard early with 11 points in the first quarter. Green finished the game with 18 total points.
Milwaukee entered the second quarter with a modest 36-30 lead over the Bulls and proceeded to lock in on scoring inside the painted area, shooting 10/14 in the paint as a team in the second frame.
The Bucks scored 54 paint points on the night with Giannis Antetokounmpo logging 32 of them.
In the second half, the Bulls mounted two attempts at reclaiming the game lead to no avail. First, Torrey Craig made a three-point shot at the 4:13 mark of the third quarter to shrink the Bucks' lead to one point.
The second time, Coby White made a three-point attempt at the 8:39 mark of the fourth quarter that closed the scoring gap to a three-point Bucks lead, 102-99.
The Bulls return home Friday to face the Atlanta Hawks in their next 2024 NBA Cup group-play game. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. CT and the game will air on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN).
