The Chicago Bulls sought to return to .500 on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. But after a 199-99 defeat, the Bulls remain seekers concerning achieving an even win-loss record. A pronounced talent disparity between Chicago and Dallas was on display as Mavericks headliners Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson scored early and often in the first half.
Unrelenting Mavericks Dominate Bulls
The Bulls' night effectively ended after the Mavericks went on a 17-0 run starting at the 8:38 mark of the first quarter. Dallas never surrendered its early lead and cruised to victory with 50 points in the paint, a performance that would make Pablo Picasso proud.
Ayo Dosunmu's Ice-Cold Night
Evolving Bulls wing Ayo Dosunmu experienced a nasty growing pain regarding his scoring against the Mavericks as he shot a glacial 2/13 (15.4%) from the field. Three personal fouls and two turnovers comprised the cherry on top of Dosunmu's ice cube sundae.
Matas Buzelis Makes Progress
To Bulls fans' delight, rookie Matas Buzelis saw 21:31 of action in Dallas and made the most of his first extended look. Buzelis finished with 13 points, shot 3/4 from the three-point line, and logged nine rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Kudos to the Bulls for a nominal loss AND practical wins in giving Buzelis extended minutes for his development, along with notching another game in favor of securing a 2025 first-round draft pick.
What's On Tap Next?
The second half of a back-to-back awaits Thursday when the Bulls return home to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. CT and the game will air on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN).
