Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em | Week 5

The AFC East-leading 3-1 Buffalo Bills travel to Houston to take on the 3-1 Texans in a battle of division leaders. Buffalo will look to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Ravens last week. Josh Allen had one of his worst offensive outputs in recent memory. The Texans defeated the Jaguars in week four and sit atop the AFC South division. There is a subplot to this game with the ongoing rift between Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, so both sides will be geared up to play.

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen ($77k DraftKings and $93k Fanduel)

We know Allen will be amped up to play well in this one and we look for him to bounce back after last weeks 180 yard and zero-touchdown performance. Allen is still QB4 in fantasy so we can not overreact to one game. He is a dual-threat option at all times, is tied for third in touchdown passes and ninth in yards per attempt, and fourth in quarterback fantasy points. Start Allen and move on!

Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs ($69k DraftKings and $76k Fanduel)

YOu know Stroud is looking his way and will feed Diggs as much as possible. Diggs wants to prove a point and will be extra motivated in this spot. Diggs is WR9 in PPR and second on the Texans in targets, catches, and receiving yards.

Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few players we recommend sitting in this one.

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz ($41k DraftKings and $54k Fanduel)

Not a hard decision to recommend sitting Dalton Schultz and his 10.5% target share. Schultz is TE24 in PPR and the Texans have shown early on in 2024 they feature the wideouts in the passing game. Houston boasts two fantasy top-ten wideouts and that doesn’t include Tank Dell. Schultz is fifth on the Texans in catches and receiving yards.

Buffalo Bills WR Curtis Samuel ($42k DraftKings and $54k Fanduel)

We have used him in the sit spot before, you can use him in any DFS or season-long fantasy at this point. Samuel simply does not get used enough to warrant a start. He has one red zone target, 8 catches, and 48 yards all season. Now keep in mind, if Shakir is inactive, you could take a dart throw on Samuel.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid ($53k DraftKings and $61k Fanduel)

With the prospects of Khalil Shakir being inactive or not at full strength if he plays, Kincaid could and should surface as the top option in the Buffalo Bills passing game. Kincaid is still TE8 in PPR scoring and last week still had a 33% target share and a 24% target share.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Houston Texans RB Cam Akers ($55k DraftKings and $62k Fanduel)

We could just fade the Texans running game altogether because we do not know the status of Joe Mixon for week five yet. Cam Akers has filled in the past two games for Mixon but has only averaged 41.5% of the snaps, 11.5 touches, and 41 yards per game. Those part-time numbers are a fade for us, even though you are most likely starting Akers in season-long if Mixon is inactive again in week five.

Conclusion

This should be one of the better DFS games of the week with an NFL game slate top five implied total and a near-even spread. Both quarterbacks are top four in fantasy points per game and the Texans feature a top 10 offense. This AFC matchup of division leaders is a game to target in DFS and season-long fantasy.
