The Cleveland Browns are one of several teams in the market for a quarterback this offseason, but to this point, the only move they have made at the spot saw them send Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Kenny Pickett. In the meantime, the team decided to shore up their offensive line in free agency.
With Deshaun Watson expected to miss the entire 2025 campaign after re-rupturing his Achilles, the Browns need to find someone to come in and hold down the fort. As of right now, it seems like Russell Wilson is one of their top options in free agency, as he visited with the team last week.
"Sources: Free-agent QB Russell Wilson is scheduled to fly tonight to Cleveland to visit with the Browns on Thursday, before being scheduled to fly to New York on Thursday night to visit Friday with the Giants," Adam Schefter of ESPN shared in a post on X.
Even if Cleveland lands another passer in free agency, they could also try to find their quarterback of the future in the 2025 NFL draft, where Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders lurk as options. For now, the front office is bolstering the rest of their team, as they announced they signed former Chicago Bears guard Teven Jenkins on Thursday.
"The Browns on Thursday signed G Teven Jenkins (unrestricted free agent). Jenkins (6-6, 321) is entering his fifth NFL season out of Oklahoma State. Originally selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2021 draft, Jenkins has appeared in 45 career games with 38 starts at left tackle, left guard and right guard. Last season, he started 14 games at left guard for the Bears," the Browns said in an official announcement.
Jenkins has spent most of his career playing as a guard, and he started all 14 games he played in for Chicago last season. With the Bears completely overhauling their offensive line, though, that made Jenkins expendable, with the Browns swooping in to sign him. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
