Browns add two, drop one in roster churn

The Cleveland Browns made a series of minor roster moves on Tuesday.

Cleveland claimed offensive tackle Kellen Diesch off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed wide receiver Jalen Camp, and waived placekicker Lucas Havrisik.

The 6-foot-7 and 300-pound Diesch was originally signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He did not stick with the Dolphins, however, spending his rookie season on the practice squad of the Chicago Bears before spending the 2024 season on Pittsburgh’s practice squad.

Diesch started his collegiate career at Texas A&M where he played in 22 games as a backup. He transferred to Arizona State following the 2019 season, where he started 17 games over two seasons, earning a Second-Team All-PAC-12 selection in 2021.

Looking back at his draft profile at NFL.com, Diesch was described as being “highly athletic” but also a player who is “scheme-dependent (and) lacking the strength to generate movement as a drive blocker.”

The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Camp was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He wound up playing his first two seasons with the Houston Texans, appearing in five games and catching one pass for seven yards in 2022. He spent the 2023 season on the practice squad in Pittsburgh and the Carolina Panthers, who waived him last week.

In four seasons at Georgia Tech, Camp played in 25 games, finishing his collegiate career with 48 receptions for 808 yards and five touchdowns.

As for Havrisik, the Browns signed him to a reserve/future contract in January after he was released by the Los Angeles Rams. With Dustin Hopkins locked in as the starting placekicker and Cade York making his triumphant return to Cleveland, there apparently was no room for Havrisik in town.
