Denver’s offseason took a dramatic turn when word spread that the division rival Raiders had made a massive contract offer to one of the city’s most beloved stars. Fans across the Mile High City held their breath, waiting for the decision.
Las Vegas, led by GM John Spytek, reportedly put $35 million on the table for a defensive leader with a decade of Pro Bowl pedigree. For many veterans, the offer might have been too tempting to pass up.
But for this free agent, the idea of suiting up in silver and black against Denver was unthinkable. Known for his leadership, production, and loyalty, he made it clear that some bonds can’t be bought.
"I turned down a $35 million offer from the Raiders because I simply couldn’t imagine lining up against the Broncos. Out of love for Denver and everything we built together, I’ll never wear another jersey in the AFC West. My loyalty will always belong to Denver"
Justin Simmons, a third-round pick out of Boston College in 2016, played eight unforgettable seasons with the Broncos, making 118 appearances and starting 108 times. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time Second-Team All-Pro.
Simmons anchored Denver’s secondary, leading the NFL in interceptions in 2022 and racking up 604 tackles, 30 picks, and 64 pass deflections. His football IQ and work ethic defined the team’s defensive identity through changing times.
Released in 2024 for cap reasons, Simmons spent a year in Atlanta, contributing 62 tackles and 2 interceptions. As a free agent, he’s been linked to contenders like the Eagles and Panthers—but the Raiders’ offer stood out for its boldness.
As the new season nears, Denver fans salute Simmons for choosing legacy over a rival’s millions. For him, and for Broncos Country, loyalty to the orange and blue will always come first.
