Under Sean Payton's leadership, the team has added several high-profile players to strengthen both sides of the ball. Notable acquisitions include tight end Evan Engram, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and defensive tackle D.J. Jones.

According to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel, the Broncos cleared up $3.2 million in cap space for this year after restructuring outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper's contract.

Cooper's $4 million roster bonus was converted into a signing bonus. The move also adds a void in 2029.

Denver will now have $17.415 million in available cap room, per Over The Cap.

Payton and general manager George Paton can decide whether to use that money to sign more free agents or pay one of their extension candidates, such as wide receiver Courtland Sutton. The available cap space can also be used to sign players in the 2025 draft class.

Cooper signed a four-year, $54 million contract extension with the Broncos in November 2024, which included a $31.73 million guaranteed bonus and a $6 million signing bonus, and had an excellent campaign last season.

The 27-year-old logged 20 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks, all of which were career-best.

Denver selected the Ohio State product in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
