Breece Hall listed as potential draft day trade

New York Jets running back Breece Hall has been the subject of many trade rumors this offseason. It’s for good reason, too, as the speculation mainly stemmed from Aaron Glenn’s comments around a running back-by-committee approach.

Breece Hall listed as potential draft day trade

NFL reporter Gregg Rosenthal just ramped up the speculation by listing Hall as one of the players who could potentially be moved on draft night.

While it’s largely speculation, the Jets are approaching decision time for Hall, who’s in the final year of his contract. While Hall is coming off career lows as a rusher, he is still fifth in scrimmage yards over the last two seasons.

Though Rosenthal listed the Jets’ back under the question mark category, it’s still notable that those around the NFL believe that there’s more than smoke behind the rumors.

Make no mistake about it: Breece Hall is a talented back. The problem is obvious, however: Running backs don’t command a premium in trades.

Most valuations for Hall would place him as an early Day 3 pick. It comes down to how the Jets feel about Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis, or the various backs available in the draft.

If Hall isn’t in their vision for the future, it may be best to get value while they can.

Other notable New York Jets trade targets

While Breece Hall is the only New York Jets player listed, they are likely interested in adding several players on the list:

  • WR George Pickens
  • WR Jameson Williams
  • TE Dallas Goedert
  • TE Michael Mayer
  • TE Mark Andrews
  • TE Kyle Pitts
  • DE Kayvon Thibodeau

The tight end position is the most glaring Jets roster need that could be addressed via trade. However, a wide receiver opposite Garrett Wilson and another defensive end are also needed.

The New York Jets will have to explore every possibility and try to match the player with the price. Either wide receiver would likely cost an early Day 2 pick. Meanwhile, the value of the tight ends listed is viewed as a Day 3 selection.
