Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked this weekend about the record breaking contract that Jordan Love signed with the Green Bay Packers.
It has been discussed on GH already that Jerry Jones is indeed optimistic that the Cowboys and Dak can figure out a deal:
“I don’t think so,” Jones told reporters during his annual state of the franchise press conference on July 25, when asked if this is Prescott’s final season in a Cowboys uniform. “Just to be very specific. I do not think this will be his last year with the Cowboys, at all. Am I being psychotic relative to my mirror? No, no.
“It’s pretty clear, I think. I want to say if it hasn’t been clear — of how much we appreciate what Dak Prescott has meant to this team in a positive way. The players do play better when he’s out there. He does make his teammates play at a higher level there’s no question about it. So I’m right there in line with his best fan.”
However, Jones was asked specifically if he thinks Dak is better than Jordan love, who just signed the biggest NFL contract of all time. Basically asking Jerry, if he will pay Dak in the same fashion. So what does the owner think about whether or not Prescott is deserving of $220 million payday.
Dall Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Does Not Want To Compare
Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones was asked if he thinks Dak is better than Love over the weekend, and in proper political form Jones gave the perfect non answer.
Jones said that he would not want to make the comparison between the two players, especially after Love beat his Cowboys in emphatic fashion in the first round of the playoffs this past season. There is clearly still a bitter taste in the legendary owner’s mouth following that brutal embarrassment. However, he did make it clear that he believes Prescott is the man to lead them forward with or without the big extension for now:
“I don’t want to get into comparison. I don’t want to do that today because that’ll start a big debate. But boy we’re proud of what Dak’s accomplished… But I’m also charged with looking ahead with the knowledge that I have looking ahead. I do take issue with people who took issue with what percentage of the cap they’ve gotten. You’re assuming you know what the revenues are going to be out here four or five years from now. You don’t. You just don’t. I don’t, but I got a better feel than you got,” Jones said.

Where Dak Prescott Contract Negotiations Stand Right Now
The long time Dallas starter is set to be play the season out and become a free agent following the year, that is unless Dallas does something about that soon. While both Jerry and Stephen jones have made optimistic statements about Dak staying in Dallas, there is obviously nothing to show for it.
Before long, this situation is going to need an answer and that will come in the form of whether or not Prescott will be with the team in 2025. Are they going to pay him the big bucks, or let him walk to another team, as there are certainly teams in the league that would make an offer.
Stephen stated this weekend that the team is making attempts to negotiate with Dak, however they also have a lot more work to do with other star players om their team. Specifically their star wideout CeeDee Lamb who is in line for a monster contract as well.
Dallas seems to be falling a part a bit at the seems, and it truly does not seem that they can keep all their star players on the roster after this season.
