Quay Walker was having a great 2024 season until an ankle injury forced him out starting from Week 15. The Green Bay Packers linenacker was able to come back during the playoffs with the Philadelphia Eagles and produced a team high eight tackles but turned out, he could have done more for the team.

He was still being bugged by the injury he had before the Wildcard round, he said. He thought he could just rest it but the official team activities reminded him of a much better solution – surgery.
“I thought it was just a high ankle, so I thought it was just something that was lingering on at the moment,” Walker said as quoted by Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com.
“Then I came back for OTAs and tried to do something and I just knew something ain’t feeling right. I didn’t want it just to linger on throughout the season, so I was like, the smart idea, probably go in and have surgery during OTAs and get it out the way.”

He re-joined the practices this week and is now looking good.
Will he be ready for the playoffs? He said “No doubt about it.”
Quay Walker comments on looming free agency
Lots of Packers are entering this season on their contract year. There are at least two who are at the end of their rookie contract and hoping to be featured prominently to better negotiate their new deal.
Walker will become a free agent next spring. Does he have an extra motivation for 2025?
The 6’4 linebacker, drafted 22nd overall in 2022, appears confident with where he’s at with the organization.

“I don’t have to prove nothing,” he said.
“I just have to prove myself right. Ever since I got drafted, I’ve been in this situation where people may feel otherwise, but I’m not really quite worried about it. Everything will take care of itself.”
