BREAKING: Packers Will Trade Jaire Alexander to the Los Angeles Chargers

Following NFL roster cuts for the 2024 NFL season, trade talks have picked up and will continue up until the trade deadline. One of those candidates is current Green Bay Packers cornerback, Jaire Alexander. If he is traded, it will be to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Alexander is among the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but only will have two years left on his deal after the 2024 season. Not only that, but Alexander has been vocal in the past with not necessarily being content with the Packers organization and has had back and shoulder injuries in the last few seasons. As the Packers shift their team and gear towards getting younger, it would be ideal for the Packers to gain draft capital through trading Alexander and filling more pressing holes. While losing Alexander would be a hit, they still have Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine that can step up and carry the load.

For the Chargers, they need to trade for Alexander. The 2023 season led to Alexander seeing a dip in production after missing time with injury, leading to him allowing a 71.8% reception percentage and only having one interception but allowed just 363 yards. Over his career, Alexander has allowed just 2,931 yards, a 59.3% completion rate, and has 13 interceptions plus 49 pass breakups.

The Chargers just did trade for Elijah Molden, and picked up Kristan Fulton in free agency in hopes to fix the pass defense that allowed the third most pass yards with 4246 and 26 touchdowns. Fulton is good, but he isn’t Alexander. Pairing Alexander would give Los Angeles three quality starters and an excellent pairing with Asante Samuel Jr. In the AFC West with Mahomes and Jim Harbaugh establishing a new identity, having a stout defensive backfield is key.
