BREAKING: Packers’ Wide Receiving Group Gets Intriguing Rating Before 2024 Season

Packers WR Christian Watson had NFL's fastest play of Week 12

The coming NFL season will determine if Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers‘ previous campaign was a fluke or not. In this regard, the team’s wide receiving group received an intriguing ranking ahead of the upcoming return of the league later this year.

The Packers entered the previous season with the league’s youngest roster. This raised questions about how they would navigate the season, especially with Love as the new starting quarterback. While the season had its ups and downs, the team showed resilience, winning 6 of their last 8 games to clinch a playoff spot as the 7th seed.

Offensively, AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones formed a potent backfield, while the emergence of Jayden Reed provided a reliable receiving threat. Love showed promise, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. On defense, the team struggled to stop the run at times but received strong performances from Devonte Wyatt.

Despite the playoff disappointment, there is optimism surrounding the Packers’ future. Love appears poised to lead the team, and young contributors like Reed and the tight end duo of Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft provide reason for excitement. With continued development, the Packers look to build on this season and return to contention in the years ahead.

After a surprising campaign, there’ll be a lot of eyes on Love and company to see if they can continue their progress. However, the Packers’ wide receiving group may need to put in a little more work, as evidenced by an article written by Trevor Sikkema for PFF.

“Three Packers wideouts — Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks — earned 70.0-plus PFF receiving grades in 2023, aided in no small part by quarterback Jordan Love‘s emergence.

Romeo Doubs was right below that, at 68.4, and tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft were both above 64.0. Green Bay lost the running back receiving ability of Aaron Jones but brought in Josh Jacobs. This is a very deep group of young pass-catchers,” Sikkema wrote.

Last season, the Packers finished with a record of 9 wins and eight losses. They also boasted a 12th place offense and a defense ranked 10 out of 32 teams in the NFL.

It remains to be seen how Green Bay’s wide receiving group will raise the bar in the coming season. If they exceed the Packers performance last season, the team will certainly go far in the playoffs.
