The Green Bay Packers will make several key roster decisions this offseason, and one of them involves their long-time running back, AJ Dillon.

Dillon did not play in the 2024 season, as he was placed on the injured reserve list due to a neck injury. With him on the sidelines, Josh Jacobs led the team’s run game alongside Emanuel Wilson, Chris Brooks, and MarShawn Lloyd.
In his recent mailbag article, Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Pete Dougherty predicted that Dillon’s time in Green Bay is coming to an end.

“As for Dillon, his contract is up and, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t know why they’d re-sign him even at the NFL minimum,” Dougherty wrote. “They have better, younger, and cheaper in MarShawn Lloyd and Emanuel Wilson, and they also have Chris Brooks, who is a good special-teams player and was their third-down back last season. Time to move on from Dillon IMHO.”
AJ Dillon said he wants to return to the Green Bay Packers
AJ Dillon said he intends to play after missing the 2024 season due to a serious neck injury. Although he prefers to prolong his stay with the Green Bay Packers, the 26-year-old running back admits it’s not up to him to decide his fate.

“It’s not up to me to really determine where my place is. That’s the reality of the NFL. If it comes down to decision-making time, we’ll figure that out,” Dillon stated via Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated.
“I always say that regardless of football, that it’s just a caveat of why I’m here. But the Packers organization has given me great opportunities. So, as far as next year, next steps, that’s kind of beyond me until it gets to that point. But I’m doing everything I can to be in the best shape and be ready to go and be the best I’ve been yet,” he added.
