The Packers are clearing out their deep wide receiver room, one by one.
After drafting Matthew Golden in the first round out of Texas and returning contributors like Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, and Dontavion Wicks, Green Bay has a deep list of weapons.
Their latest move? Releasing undrafted free agent Jadon Janke on the second week of OTA's.
The receiver out of South Dakota State was once teammates with Packer tight end Tucker Kraft. He was signed three weeks ago and in a blink of an eye was released.
It could correlate with the signing of undrafted rookie Sam Brown Jr. out of Miami. Brown was actually teammates with Golden at the University of Houston and went toe to toe with the wideout showing he can compete on this Green Bay roster.
The Packers have 12 wide receivers on their roster. Outside of the main names there's players like young prospect Bo Melton and Super Bowl champion Mecole Hardman to contend with.
They also drafted rookie Savion Williams who will likely command a roster spot.
This move does open things up a little more for the Golden show to take stage this season.
With Christian Watson out for the year with a torn ACL and the Packers clearing more wide receivers, it's only a matter of time before the rookie commands the Lambeau spotlight.
