BREAKING: Packers' Isaiah Simmons has overcome 'curse' to try and start for Green Bay

Isaiah Simmons battled a personal "disease of more" in the early stages of his NFL career.

The top-10 pick by the Arizona Cardinals could capably play safety and linebacker. That meant he never really had a true defensive home.

It's something he now calls "a gift and a curse," according to ESPN's Rob Demovksy.

Simmons is now finding out what a blessing it can be simply to have one spot.

The Packers signed Simmons to a bargain deal this offseason to exclusively play linebacker.

"My versatility, I feel like it's a little bit of a gift and a curse, where they want you to do everything," Simmons told Demovsky. "But at the end of the day, I'm still a human."

So far, so good for Simmons. He has received first-team reps in minicamp with Quay Walker not on the field.

"Honestly I feel like this is the most comfortable in a system I've been since I've been in the league," Simmons said.

Simmons was a great low-risk add by the Packers.

He's still a freakish athlete, and he has shown flashes during his NFL career.

Now, with one spot to focus on, maybe he can finally fulfill some of his potential.
