The Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Los Angeles Rams in their Week Five game of the 2024 NFL regular season. Should the Packers pull of the victory, it will be their first win in Los Angeles against the Rams since 1966. Of course, the franchise spent two decades in St. Louis, during which time Green Bay won four games on the road.
Like many teams, the Packers have some injury concerns already this season. Starting quarterback Jordan Love missed two games with a sprained MCL before returning for Green Bay’s home loss to the Minnesota Vikings, for example.
Fortunately for the Packers, Love was a full participant in practice on Thursday. However, one of their most important pass catchers was not.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs Is Dealing with a Personal Matter
After practice, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur met with the media and revealed the names of players that did not practice on Thursday. Those players were:
- Elgton Jenkins
- Romeo Doubs
- Luke Musgrave
- Christian Watson
- Devonte Wyatt
The following players practiced, but were limited participants:
- Jaire Alexander
- Kenny Clark
- Jonathan Ford
- Elgton Jenkins
- Jordan Morgan
- Carrington Valentine
All of the players listed above are dealing with some form of injury except for wide receiver Romeo Doubs. LaFleur told reporters that the third-year wide receiver is dealing with a personal matter.
He added that the team is taking the situation day-by-day, and it is not yet known of Doubs will be available for the game against the Rams on Sunday.
“We’ll take it one day at a time,” LaFleur said.
The nature of Doubs’ personal matter is not known.
The Green Bay Packers Are Already Going to Be Without Christian Watson
Going into the season, one position that was consistently praised on the Packers roster was the wide receiver group. While they do not have a big-name wide receiver leading the room, their group consists of many quality pass catchers that make it one of the deepest groups in the NFL.
That depth is going to be tested on Sunday, especially if Doubs is unable to play. Third-year wide receiver Christian Watson suffered a high ankle sprain against the Vikings on Sunday and will not play this week.
The good news, though, is that the Packers have decided against putting him on injured reserve, which means he will be back sooner rather than later.
If Doubs cannot play either, the Packers will still have Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks available, as well as Bo Melton and Malik Heath.
