BREAKING: New York Jets' head coach decision couldn't be more perfect for Matt LaFleur

The New York Jets choosing a new head coach may seem completely irrelevant to the Green Bay Packers, outside of the Aaron Rodgers connection, of course.

However, the opposite is true. New York's decision could have a significant impact on the NFC North.

The Jets interviewed Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley for their vacant head coach job. Hafley helped turn Green Bay's defense into a strength this season. He will almost certainly land an opportunity in the near future, but it now likely won't be in New York.

All signs point toward Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn getting the job.

According to many reports, including one from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jets want Glenn to become their next head coach. Per Rapoport, he visited the Jets for a second interview on Tuesday, and the team's "goal" was "to keep him from leaving the building" and hire him on the day.

Glenn did, in fact, leave the building without a deal, but it sure sounds like he will soon swap Detroit for New York.

The Jets hiring Glenn would be perfect in two ways. Not only would it almost guarantee Hafley will remain in Green Bay, but it also means Detroit will lose another key member of its coaching staff.

The Lions lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to the Chicago Bears. Glenn did an incredible job of keeping Detroit's defense together despite suffering a ridiculous amount of injuries throughout the season.

And he could take several of his Lions colleagues with him.

According to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz, Glenn wants to hire Lions quarterbacks coach Mark Brunell, while Schultz also reported that Glenn could try to bring highly-rated linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard with him.

The Lions haven't just lost their top two coordinators, but several important coaches could follow them out the door. Detroit has become a victim of its own success. Dan Campbell has assembled a star-studded coaching staff, but it is being dismantled piece by piece.

Of course, Ben Johnson going to Chicago means he will remain a problem for the Packers, but Glenn going to the AFC is perfect. And the more talented coaches he can take with him, the better.

It leaves Campbell and the Lions in a tough spot. They still have a Super Bowl roster, but they must now rebuild their coaching staff. Will it derail their chances of retaining the NFC North title in 2025?

Only time will tell. Glenn to New York would be a double victory for the Packers. They get to retain their outstanding defensive coordinator and maintain continuity, while their division rivals potentially lose several important coaches.
