BREAKING: “It’s Really Annoying;” Green Bay Packers Head Coach Goes Off on Media Following Jordan Love Question

NFL - Green Bay Packers: Matt LaFleur stärkt Jordan Love den Rücken

The Green Bay Packers head into their Bye Week 6-3 following their 24-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. Playing in pouring rain, both teams relied heavily on the run game to carry their offenses. However, when passing was needed, Lions quarterback Jared Goff was accurate and efficient whereas Packers star Jordan Love was wild and undisciplined.

The fact that Green Bay wide receivers dropped more than five passes did not help.

In what was one of the more confusing plays of the game, Love threw his league-leading 10th interception with under a minute left to play in the first half. What made it worse was that Detroit cornerback Kerby Joseph returned it for a touchdown, giving the Lions a 17-3 lead at halftime.

As one can see, it was not a smart throw. Several of Love’s interceptions this year have come on head-scratching plays that have left many people wondering, “What was he thinking?”

Love finished his day having completed 23 of 39 passes for 273 yards, no touchdowns, and that interception. As mentioned, it was his 10th of the year, which leads the NFL.

After the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, who has frequently been asked about Love’s turnovers, was quite blunt with the media when asked about the pick-six on Sunday:

“It’s really annoying [having to answer questions about Jordan Love’s interceptions.] He’s fighting, he’s competing. We know we have to take care of the football, but I don’t question anything about what he’s trying to do—we just have to do it better.”

Later, Love said of his interceptions, “Putting the ball in jeopardy way too many times. It’s definitely something I have to clean up.”

Interestingly, Love had 10 interceptions through nine games last season, too. Green Bay was 3-6 and looked like a longshot to make the NFL Playoffs.

In the final eight games of the 2023 NFL season, Love threw 18 touchdowns and just one interception.
