BREAKING: Bears QB Caleb Williams Reportedly Struggled MIGHTILY in Early Practice

Green Bay Packers fans react to the Chicago Bears drafting Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze

The spotlight has been on the Chicago Bears since the 2023 NFL season came to an end. That is because the Bears were on the clock with the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With that pick, the Bears selected QB Caleb Williams from USC. Williams arguably has more expectations and pressure on him than any draft pick in recent memory. However, early reports reveal that Williams is struggling to adapt to the NFL.

Organized team activities recently began for the Chicago Bears. One reporter, Nicholas Moreano of CHGO Sports, was on the scene. According to Moreano, Williams did not have his best performance in an early practice with the Bears.

Moreano made some specific notes about Williams’ performance. Here were some of the main things he noted:Ezoic

“Really rough day for Caleb Williams and the starting offense. A lot of incomplete passes and near interceptions.

In the 7-on-7 period, Williams completed just three passes. Jaylon Johnson nearly had an interception over the middle of the field.

In the team period, most of the passes were completed to the flat, and Williams held onto the ball for a long time.” -Nicholas Moreano

Before Bears fans and Caleb Williams haters start to overreact to this, there is one important note to make. Williams was missing a lot of key players who will likely line up with him in the regular season. Were these players truly that vital?

Well, wide receivers Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen did not practice in the 7-on-7s according to Moreano. On top of this, Williams was missing two offensive linemen to block for him. These linemen include Nate Davis and Darnell Wright.

It is no secret that the Bears are putting a lot of stock in Caleb Williams. Many fans and experts expect the Bears to take a step up in 2024 compared to where they were last season.

With that in mind, it is important to not overreact if you are a Bears fan. There are still over three months until Williams plays in his first NFL game. As a result, this will be far from his last practice to find his rhythm with this new team.

Eventually, Williams will also get to have a practice with every wide receiver he is starting with. Once that happens and he starts playing regular season games, we can get a better idea of what his ceiling is.
