Longtime Bravo star Lala Kent made the decision to evacuate her home due to poor air quality from the wildfires in Los Angeles county. She shared the news on her Instagram Stories on January 9.
“This morning Sosa woke up and was really struggling to breathe. I made the decision to pack my family up and come to Palm Springs, strictly based on the air quality. This is where we will stay until LA is safe again,” Kent told her followers.
“This is one of the most devastating situations I have ever seen. At this point, if you were not directly affected, you know someone who has lost everything,” she continued.
Kent then weighed in on the “unimaginable” destruction caused by the wildfires and took a moment to thank those offering help, including firefighters, in a subsequent post.
Without getting overly political, Kent spoke to her followers about what she’s witnessed living in California under Governor Gavin Newsom.
“I am not into politics,” she began. “I don’t pretend to know everything there is to know; I do my best to do my research. But, at the end of the day, again, I can honestly say I don’t know much,” she continued.
“What I do know is that I have a brain… I have two ears and I got two eyes that work. And when I look around Los Angeles, when I look around many parts of California, I say, not only is something not right, but I don’t like what I see,” she said, before adding, “I am a registered democrat. I would say that I’m a liberal person. I also will say Newsom and [Karen] Bass got to go.”
Kent isn’t the only former “Vanderpump Rules” star affected by the wildfires. Stassi Schroeder and her husband Beau Clark are prepared to leave their home if necessary.
“I hesitate to write this because it’s still not over and I don’t even have the right words to articulate everything. Firstly, my family is currently still safe and at home. Secondly, my heart is absolutely broken for everyone affected in all the fires. The amount of loss is unimaginable,” Schroeder wrote on her Instagram Stories on January 9.
“Last night was by far the most terrifying night of my life, trying to give my kids a bath and put them to bed and pretend like everything is OK with the view of the Sunset fire outside every window of my house. I will never forget the insane fear and trying to swallow my tears in front of them but that’s nothing compared to what so many people have now had to go through. So many people have lost everything,” she added.
