BOSTON — The Celtics have one more game before the All-Star break and they will be shorthanded without two of their starters. Jaylen Brown was downgraded to out on the injury report while new acquisition Torrey Craig is available.
Originally, the C’s had three players listed on the injury report. Brown and Craig were questionable while Jrue Holiday was out due to his lingering right shoulder injury. Holiday will sit the final four games ahead of the break due to his shoulder. Xavier Tillman was also a late add to the injury report as he’s out with left knee inflammation.
Brown missed the win over the Heat in Miami on Monday due to the right knee swelling. So he’ll miss the final two games ahead of the break due to the issue.
Craig hasn’t played yet for the Celtics as he’s managed his right ankle injury, but he could make his debut Wednesday. He hasn’t played in an NBA game since Dec. 30 due to the injury when he was still with the Bulls. The Celtics officially signed Craig last weekend off the buyout market as their 14th man on the roster.
The Celtics are looking to finish strong before the break as they’re 38-16 heading into the game against the Spurs. They’ve had issues at home, though, as they’re 16-10 at TD Garden this season. San Antonio brings in a 23-28 record, along with All-Star big Victor Wembanyama and new acquisition De’Aaron Fox into the matchup.
