The Edmonton Oilers are fresh off another series win over the Los Angeles Kings, and they will now meet up with the Vegas Golden Knights. Edmonton is coming into this matchup very confident, and they are looking to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals.
This is a rematch from a series two years ago that saw Vegas knock out the Oilers. The Golden Knights went on to win the Stanley Cup that year, so the Oilers will surely be out for some revenge.
Ahead of the series, Shawn P. Roarke of NHL.com made a bold prediction on the matchup. Within, Roarke has predicted that the Golden Knights would be able to shut down stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
"I also saw the Golden Knights figure out the two titans two postseasons ago, in this very round. Draisaitl had six goals in the first two games and then nothing after. He was minus-7 in the final four games. McDavid had five points in the first two games and five in the next four. Vegas center Jack Eichel played a huge part in doing that and so did Willian Karlsson. Each are back and better than ever. They won't silence McDavid and Draisaitl but will limit them and let the Golden Knights' depth carry the day"
The Oilers go as the two stars do, so if the Golden Knights are able to limit them, it could be a long series for Edmonton. McDavid and Draisaitl are one of the better offensive duos around the entire league, giving the Oilers a chance each time out.
However, the Golden Knights have a strong defense, and it could alter this series completely. Game 1 between these two teams begins on Tuesday, May 6, starting at 9:30 p.m. ET.
