Blockbuster trade proposal sends Dolphins' $72 million veteran to Packers for Romeo Doubs

The Dolphins have been one of the most unpredictable teams to follow this offseason, largely due to the ongoing situation with veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey. It's been clear since early in the offseason that Ramsey is on his way out, but despite tensions between him and the franchise, a trade has yet to materialize — mostly because of financial complications.

“But a lot of these teams are spooked by the money because of the $24 million guaranteed. The Rams are sort of waiting it out. It's really interesting. I do think it'll get done, I just don't know what it's going to look like financially. But I know he's supposed to get traded in somewhat short order, so I think in the next week or two I could see it coming together,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said.

The most likely landing spots for Ramsey remain the Chargers or the Rams.

“A reunion with the Rams makes sense given their title aspirations and secondary needs, but the Chargers were reportedly close to swinging a major deal for Metcalf earlier this offseason, so they could be even more primed to part with real draft capital, this time to shore up the back end of Jesse Minter's defense. They've still got north of $25 million in 2025 salary cap space,” CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin wrote.

However, Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani sees another option emerging: a trade with the Green Bay Packers, potentially involving a Day 3 draft pick and wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

“Miami may want a higher draft pick in return for Ramsey, but it has lost leverage since we all know the All-Pro cornerback has no future with the team. Doubs would provide some much-needed consistency in the Dolphins' passing game, especially with Tyreek Hill also facing an uncertain future beyond this season,” Lombardi Ave’s Freddie Boston wrote.

There’s no guarantee Doubs has a long-term role in Green Bay, and after cutting Jaire Alexander, the Packers could very well make a move for Ramsey. Pairing Doubs with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle would give Miami another weapon on offense, while Ramsey could stabilize Green Bay’s secondary. This trade scenario could be a win for both sides.
