The Buffalo Bills are looking forward to September 7th when they open their 2025 regular season against the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo hasn’t played a home game that counts in the win/loss column since it knocked off the Ravens in the Divisional Round this January.
Buffalo Looking to Win the Super Bowl
After the game was over, Buffalo went to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game, but fell again, not reaching the Super Bowl. The Bills need to find a way to get past the Chiefs in the postseason, and hopefully, it will come this season.
Buffalo did everything it could to upgrade the roster this season. The team knows this could be the last time the full core will be together since running back James Cook is in a contract season.
Cook will likely test the free agent market next offseason since no deal has been reached with Buffalo so far this year. Since the Bills could be losing Cook next March, they will have room to add a few players.
One position group the Bills need to continue improving is on the defensive line. The team did sign veteran free agent pass rusher Joey Bosa this offseason. However, Bosa is only on a one-year contract, which means he is unlikely to return to Buffalo next season.
Bills Urged to Sign Darrell Taylor
Even though the offseason is still far away, Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report thinks Buffalo should try to sign Houston Texans pass rusher Darrell Taylor in 2026.
“The Bills’ ceiling might be established by how well Joey Bosa can do for them on the edge. They needed more pass-rushing pop this offseason and acquired Bosa on a one-year deal to address the need. The only problem is that he might end up pricing himself out of Buffalo if he proves he can stay healthy and dominate,” Ballentine wrote. “That would likely send the Bills back to the free-agent market to address the need. Darrell Taylor doesn’t have near the resume, but he’s also only played four years. He’s the kind of big, powerful edge player Buffalo usually covets.”
Taylor was a second-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2021 and had a good three years with Seattle, recording 21.5 sacks in 49 games. Last year, Taylor was traded to the Chicago Bears for a sixth-round pick. In 16 games last season, Taylor had three sacks. Now the 28-year-old pass rusher is on a one-year, $4.7 million contract with the Texans.
If Taylor can produce this year, playing for a good Texans defense, then he could be a massive target for a handful of teams.
The Bills still have a long season ahead of them before they can think about offseason moves, but Taylor should be a player Bills fans should be watching this season.
