Bills Signing of Keenan Allen Urged as Super Bowl Need

Last season the Buffalo Bills came within one game of the Super Bowl. They ran out of gas in the AFC Championship game in Kansas City against the Chiefs.

Bills Signing of Keenan Allen Urged as Super Bowl Need

One of the problems the Bills have is they do not have enough weapons at the wide receiver position for the current NFL Most Valuable Player, quarterback Josh Allen.

The leading receiver for the Bills last season was Khalil Shakir, who played in 15 games. He totaled 76 receptions, 821 yards and four scores. That certainly was not bad - Shakir hit his heights here - but it is far from what a team might want as its main source of “WR1” production in the passing game.

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes former Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen would be a good fit for the Bills to sign this offseason. The six-time Pro Bowler would do well in Buffalo's offense.

The theory? He would quickly pair up with Josh Allen and put up big-time numbers in this wide-open offense.

"Allen would pair himself with reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen, so he'd have elite quarterback play at his disposal," Sullivan said. "Because of the presence of Allen, Buffalo is also in the thick of a Super Bowl window, giving Allen an opportunity to compete for a championship."

Allen is coming off of a relatively subpar season, but he still managed to catch 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers are not Pro Bowl-level, but it would make him the No. 2 receiver on the Bills. He would have surpassed Keon Coleman, who as a rookie caught only 29 balls for 556 yards and four touchdowns.

By bringing in Allen, who attained more than 1,000 yards in seven seasons, the Bills would greatly enhance their wide receiver room and give Josh Allen a big target to help get past the Chiefs on the path to a Super Bowl..
