The Buffalo Bills' offseason has seen the franchise add solid additions on both sides of the ball in Josh Palmer and Joey Bosa while retaining a host of key starters.
That is a solid couple of weeks of business for the franchise and general manager Brandon Beane, but there are still some roster holes that need to be filled, and the draft could be the place to do it.
For some, the need to get Josh Allen another receiver is top of the list, but for others, getting some corner help along with defensive line reinforcements should be where the franchise goes first.
In a neat exercise, Pro Football Focus has done a fan mock draft, and for Bills Mafia, the player they want in the first round is defensive lineman Derrick Harmon from Oregon.
"Bills fans watched Patrick Mahomes get sacked and harassed by the Eagles' incredible defensive front in the Super Bowl and want that for their team," Pro Football Focus writes. "Despite notching just five sacks in 2024, Harmon posted an incredible 17.6% pass-rush win rate from the interior and a 91.2 PFF pass-rush grade on true pass sets. This fit is perfect if that’s the fans' line of thinking."
Adding Harmon to a defensive line that has Bosa, Greg Rousseau, A.J. Epenesa, and Ed Oliver would give the Bills, who struggled to get off the field in the AFC Championship game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, some much-needed bite.
As PFF states, Harmon would be a big stats guy, but his pressure win rate is second to none, and coming into a defensive line rotation for Sean McDermott's team, that could be a dangerous thing.
Able to play all across the defensive line, Harmon has the size to help stop the run (Bills ranked 13th, allowing 117.7 per game in 2024), which will also help make offenses one-dimensional.
Yes, a receiver could be seen as a need, but Allen already has quality weapons, so beefing up the defensive line feels like the right call here. In Harmon, Buffalo gets a stud to slot straight into McDermott's rotation.
