It has been some offseason for Buffalo Bills receiver Khalil Shakir as he has locked away his future for the next four years.
Coming off his best-ever season as a pro, totaling 821 and four touchdowns to lead the Bills' offense, he was rewarded with a shiny new $60.2 million contract. One of Josh Allen's key weapons will be sticking around for the foreseeable future with the extension well-deserved for the receiver.
But having come to terms with the franchise on his new deal weeks ago, Shakir has only recently put pen to paper to make it official, and he still can't believe it happened.
“I was very blank, I didn't know how to explain it, just feels surreal,” Shakir said. “I mean, ever since I got the news, it was like, all right, once I finally put the pen and paper down, it'll hit me, and as I continue to walk through the facility and all that stuff, it's insane. It's hard to describe, but obviously, it's a dope feeling, and I'm just super excited to continue to be a Bill.”
With Shakir coming off a superb season and now having a new contract, the pressure only goes up for No. 10 going forward.
With an average salary of $15 million, Shakir will have to be one of the stars of the show for Buffalo, and we don't have any doubts that Khalil will take on the responsibility and take his game to new heights.
We sometimes see that when a player gets a bumper new contract, their game falls away, but Shakir has worked so hard to get to this point that he isn't about to rest on his laurels.
He's ready to soak up this "surreal" feeling and get back to work as he looks to attack 2025 with the same vigor he did 2024.
