When the Buffalo Bills drafted Keon Coleman in 2024, little did we know that he would be a great personality player for the team. He immediately showed off his sense of humor and joy for being able to catch passes from Josh Allen. Coming from Florida State, Coleman was brought to Buffalo to help the Bills’ passing attack because of the frame he has.
Coleman finished his rookie season with 556 yards and 4 touchdowns off of 29 receptions (averaging 19.2 yards per reception). His breakout game came in Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans where he had 4 catches for 125 yards (his only game over 100 yards). Then the following week against the Seattle Seahawks, Coleman had 5 catches for 70 yards and an impressive touchdown grab over cornerback Tariq Woolen.
Things were looking up for Coleman after back-to-back productive games. Then in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins, former Bills safety Jordan Poyer delivered a hit to Coleman that injured his wrist, causing Coleman to miss the next four games. After coming back, Coleman didn’t have more than 3 catches in a game and only scored one more touchdown the rest of the season.
Keon Coleman hype for 2025 continues on ahead of training camp
Throughout this offseason, there has been a great amount of hype surrounding Coleman. NFL analyst Bucky Brooks from NFL.com recently put together a 2025 NFL All-Breakout Team on offense and Coleman made it onto Brooks’ list. Here's a bit on what Brooks said about Coleman for this coming season:
"Josh Allen’s handpicked WR1 looks poised to make a major leap in his second season. Coleman’s superior size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) and superb ball skills should help him take advantage of favorable matchups in the red zone."Bucky Brooks, NFL.com
Seeing as how the Bills didn’t add any major big-time receivers this offseason, they have a lot of trust at wide receiver. Joshua Palmer was brought in as a separation receiver and Elijah Moore brings the speed that the offense needed. With Mack Hollins out of the offense, that leaves Coleman as Buffalo’s next big target on the outside of the numbers.
Do I believe Coleman could reach 1,000+ yards? Sure, but I don’t think he will. However, the Bills don’t need him to be a 1,000+ yard receiver. They just need him to be effective in the redzone.
