Bills Add Another Defensive Lineman After Joey Bosa Signing

The Buffalo Bills continued to beef up their defensive line in free agency.

On Tuesday night, the Bills reportedly signed Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million deal. They quickly followed that move by adding a defensive tackle on Wednesday morning.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bills signed Larry Ogunjobi to a one-year, $8.3 million contract with $8 million guaranteed. The defensive tackle could earn up to $10 million if reaching incentives.

Ogunjobi has spent his entire eight-year career in the AFC North. He began with the Cleveland Browns, playing four seasons for the organization that selected him in the third round. Ogunjobi tallied 180 tackles, 37 quarterback hits, 14.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 60 games.

In 2022, Ogunjobi notched a career-high seven sacks and 16 quarterback hits in his lone season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He's since started 45 of 48 games played for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the last three seasons.

Pittsburgh re-signed Ogunjobi to a three-year, $28.75 million deal before the 2023 season. However, the Steelers released him on Monday to save $7 million.

Rather than completing the division grand slam and joining the Baltimore Ravens, the 30-year-old found another AFC contender.

Buffalo finished 17th in total defense last season, its lowest ranking since 2017. The No. 24 passing defense added two notable pass rushers in Bosa and Ogunjobi.

Bosa replaces Von Miller, whom the Bills released after three seasons. The five-time Pro Bowler notched five sacks and two forced fumbles for the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

An otherwise busy offseason has seen the Bills re-sign defensive end Greg Rousseau and add Michael Hoecht from the Los Angeles Rams. On the offensive side, Buffalo signed wide receiver Joshua Palmer to a three-year deal and gave Josh Allen a $330 million contract with a record $250 million guaranteed.
