Chef Ben Robinson just shared a major life update: He has called off his engagement to fiancée Kiara Cabral.
The Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean alum confirmed that his wedding was canceled in a statement he posted on Instagram on September 16.
"Hey guys, I hope everyone’s had a wonderful summer. I have missed being in touch with you, but I’m finally able to share my adventures," he wrote in the caption of his post, which featured a solo shot of him and the song "Free Bird" by MOONLGHT playing in the background. "You will understand, it’s been difficult. I am no longer getting married…"
Ben went on to share that the breakup was the right decision for both him and his now-ex.
"We have decided to go our separate ways, and I think that this is the best decision for both of us," he continued. "I would rather not discuss the reasons behind these decisions, but I feel it’s important for me to express my circumstance."
Ben then thanked his friends and his followers for their support.
"With any luck my grievances will be overshadowed by the support of my loyal followers, friends and family. You always give me strength," he concluded. "I’m excited to continue my culinary inspirations with my non-gaslit cooktop, and trusty blowtorch. After all, nobody deserves a troublesome flame... Cheers Lovelies..."
Who was Chef Ben Robinson engaged to?
Chef Ben, who appeared on Seasons 1 through 4 of Below Deck and on Season 1 and Season 4 of Below Deck Mediterranean, proposed to Kiara in May 2023.
The couple had been together for four years before deciding to take the next step. Ben popped the question while the two were on a trip together to Italy.
Details on Chef Ben Robinson's proposal
Discussing the Rome proposal with Us Weekly, Ben said, "I could tell that Kiara saw this as a special moment and was definitely expecting more than a carbonara. She says not, but I could tell."
Ahead of the proposal, Ben almost forgot the engagement ring at the couple's home in Florida.
"I even forgot it on the way to the airport and blamed our detour on having to turn the air conditioning down. It was a bumpy ride. And well worth it," Ben told the outlet. "She had no clue when I dropped my knees in Vatican Square that I would be proposing."
He also confirmed the news in an Instagram post, which has since been deleted from his page.
"After a wonderful 4 year relationship with my love Kiara I decided to take the next step and propose…" Ben wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos from their engagement photoshoot (which took place on a boat). "I feel like the luckiest man alive!"
Now, more than a year later, Ben and Kiara are no longer walking down the aisle.
