Bears writer urges team to trade for $8 million star playmaker

The Chicago Bears are facing an issue at the running back position at the moment, with a lack of depth in the room.

Chicago has starting running back D'Andre Swift, but there is a chance that Swift could see less action than last season.

The Bears did draft Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai in the seventh round, but he will need a handful of games before he is ready to share the workload with Swift.

The Bears should consider adding another veteran running back to their team before training camp. According to Gene Chamberlain from the Chicago Bears On SI, the team should explore trading for Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker.

"With Zach Charbonnet, Damien Martinez, Kenny McIntosh and a few others behind him, Walker might be in position to be traded," Chamberlian wrote. "It would depend on what they thought in training camp of Martinez, the rookie from Miami who runs with power and makes tacklers miss. McIntosh has been in a third back role before while Charbonnet has split time as starter. If Martinez delivers in camp and preseason, it could be far more likely Seattle would deal its 2022 second-round draft pick. At 5-9, 211, he's not your prototypical big back, but he also isn't a speed or third-down type. He could share a backfield with Swift and has had mixed results. He averages 4.2 yards a carry but last year's 3.7 ypc dragged him down a bit. From Seattle's standpoint, unless they can get back a second- or third-rounder in return, they should just hang onto him and have him leave in free agency so they get a third-round comp pick."

Walker has spent three seasons in the NFL, rushing for 2,528 yards and 24 scores in 41 games.

Walker is entering the final year of his eight-million-dollar contract, so if the Bears trade for him, they would have to be okay with letting him walk after the season.
