Bears' Woes Continue as Jaquan Brisker Lands on Injured Reserve
Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker was placed on injured reserve weeks after sustaining a concussion against the Carolina Panthers.
The Chicago Bears' defense took a big hit Thursday as the team placed emerging star safety Jaquan Brisker on injured reserve. Brisker, who's already been sidelined for close to a month after sustaining a concussion in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, will now miss at least another four games.
Chicago selected Brisker in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Penn State product has suffered a concussion in each of his three seasons with the Bears.
This latest concussion elicits questions regarding the Bears' medical staff and their handling of the situation. Brisker, who suffered the concussion after absorbing a low hit from Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble, was clearly shaken up after Tremble barreled into Brisker's helmet. The Bears' safety stumbled for a moment but was allowed to finish the game.
It's another feather in the cap of the dysfunctional 2024 Bears. In a week in which the team has fired its offensive coordinator, battled murmurs of a quarterback change, and suffered another stadium setback, the news of Brisker going on injured reserve just adds salt to the wound.
