Bears ‘Unlikely’ to Trade for Parsons or Move DJ Moore

As excitement builds around the Chicago Bears, fans continue to fantasize about blockbuster trades. Among the most talked-about trades, for good or for bad, are acquiring Dallas Cowboys superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons or moving wide receiver DJ Moore. However, veteran Chicago Tribune writer Brad Biggs recently addressed both Bears trade scenarios in his mailbag column and made it clear that neither move seems remotely likely.

Brad Biggs Throws Cold Water on Micah Parsons, DJ Moore Bears Trade Scenarios

Biggs tackled the Parsons trade speculation first, reacting to a fan’s comparison between the current team and the 2018 Bears squad that traded for Khalil Mack.

At the time, Mack was viewed as the final piece to the team. Some fans now see Parsons as a similar target, with the hope that his elite pass-rushing skills could elevate Chicago’s defense into elite territory.

But Biggs sees a key difference: the Bears aren’t just one player away from contending.

“I’d agree with you that the Bears are more than one piece away from becoming a championship-contending team. If so, why trade a haul that would include at least two future first-round draft picks?”

He emphasized that, unlike in 2018, the Bears already have a premier edge rusher in Montez Sweat, who’s being paid like one, and that the team isn’t in a position to justify giving up the draft capital (and eventual cap space) it would take to acquire Parsons.

While the idea of pairing Parsons is undoubtedly enticing, the Bears still have holes to fill, and giving up multiple first-round picks could stunt the long-term growth the Bears have been building under GM Ryan Poles.

No, DJ Moore Isn’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon

In another hypothetical Bears trade scenario, a fan asked Biggs whether the emergence of rookie wideout Luther Burden III could lead to Moore being traded after the 2025 season.

On paper, the move might seem to make sense to those worried about salary cap constraints, but Biggs was quick to shut that idea down.

“That seems unlikely to me considering the Bears paid him just 12 months ago…Let’s be real here too. If the Bears were looking to deal Moore, it would be because they didn’t believe his production was anywhere near what the team is paying him.”

Instead, Biggs sees a long-term role for Moore, especially under head coach Ben Johnson. We are already seeing Johnson use Moore in creative ways, including lining him up at running back and in the slot during training camp.

The takeaway: Moore remains a foundational piece of the offense, not a cap casualty. Trading him would not only be costly from a financial perspective ($12 million cap hit) but also risky in terms of disrupting the development of quarterback Caleb Williams.

While it’s fun to dream about blockbuster trades and headline-grabbing moves, Biggs’ insights serve as a reality check. Adding Parsons or moving Moore might sound bold, but neither move is in the best interest of the team.
