Bears’ Terrifying New Weapon Will Leave Rivals Sleepless — This Savage Unit Is an Absolute Nightmare Unleashed

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of training camp, and unfortunately, there’s been a lot of talk about issues in the offense during camp. The Bears had their first official day of training camp on July 23, and there were problems from the get-go. That day, quarterback Caleb Williams, to start out practice, threw an interception to Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. Then, new head coach Ben Johnson kicked everyone on the offense’s first team off the field after they weren’t able get lined up properly.

But, it’s not all dismal news, Bears enthusiasts. There is a big, bright light that’s coming out of the Bears’ training camp right now, and it’s something that Johnson and the team will need in the coming year.

While Johnson is known as being an offensive-minded coach, everybody knows that, as they say, a strong defense win championships. That’s where the Chicago Bears’ defense comes in.

The New Chicago Bears

The Bears’ defense is looking very strong in training camp, and that could make the team’s rivals lose sleep at night. Since the start of camp, Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen has really made this unit tick, and it’s been a pleasant surprise for those in the Windy City.

ESPN Bears beat reporter Courtney Cronin gave her thoughts on how the defense performed in the team’s practice on Tuesday, July 29, and it’s glowing. They did great during their two-minute drill and, in general, are showing very promising signs.

“The defense had the edge during Tuesday’s two-minute drill when the first-, second- and third-team offenses struggled to move the ball. Down five with 54 seconds remaining from their own 47-yard line, Williams was sacked on third down, and the first-team unit exited the field after a 10-yard completion short of the sticks,” she stated after watching the team in practice.

Offense Has Struggled for the Bears

Let’s not get too carried away, though. Some of the great performance for the defense has come at the expensive of the offense. In other words, because the offense hasn’t been performing as well, that has made the defense look better.

But, don’t discredit the fact that the Bears really do seem to have a solid defense going into the 2025-26 season. They’re going to need it, because there do seem to be a few issues with the team’s offense right now. It’s hopefully all just growing pains from having a new head coach in Johnson, but it’s certainly a bit nerve-wracking.

The NFC North is strong this year, as it has been for a while now, and the Bears are doing everything they can to not be at the bottom of the division come next season. With the brainpower of Johnson at the helm, anything is possible. If the Bears are going to really have the comeback season they’ve been wanting for years now, it will take a great mix of the offense and defense, which is why the team’s defense doing well is such positive news. Pretty soon, the preseason will start, and that will be a good test.
