Bears sign S Adrian Colbert to active roster

The Chicago Bears have signed safety Adrian Colbert to its active roster, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Colbert has been on Chicago's practice squad and has appeared in three games in 2024, playing 44% of snaps on special teams.

The 31-year-old was originally cut from the team during the preseason but was brought back to the team's practice squad.

The veteran may have been signed to the team's 53-man roster due to recent injuries ahead of its next game on "Thursday Night Football" against the Seattle Seahawks.

Safeties Elijah Hicks (ankle/foot) and Tarvarius Moore (knee) haven't logged any practices so far this week with one day remaining, according to the team's latest injury report. If both players can't give it a go in Week 17, it would leave only Kyler Gordon and Josh Blackwell as options to fill in, aside from Colbert.

Colbert was a seventh-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 and has played in 44 career games since, making 22 starts for the 49ers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Bears.

The Bears will look to end a nine-game losing streak on Thursday night as they host the Seahawks at Soldier Field.
