The dire wolf is back.
What's a dire wolf, you ask? It's a species of wolf that has been extinct for 10,000 years but has been genetically engineered to revive the species.
The miraculous comeback allowed social media posters to focus on something else that's dire: the Chicago Bears' quarterback history.
NFL write Eli Berkovits posted this on X:
We got literal dire wolves before we saw a Bears QB throw for 4,000 yards 💀 https://t.co/EDdMYDJNVx

The Bears were a founding member of the American Professional Football Association in 1920, playing as the Decatur Staleys in the league that eventually became the NFL.
In more than a century, Erik Kramer's 3,838 yards in 1995 stand as the most the Bears have thrown for.
Jay Cutler holds the next three spots on the list, and Caleb Williams' rookie season (3,541) is fifth.
Bears fans might hope Williams can break the 4K drought, especially under new head coach Ben Johnson.
And if he does, it'll be just in time. The dire wolf is finally back to see it.
