Bears predicted to shake up NFL Draft via blockbuster trade with Jaguars

The Chicago Bears have the 10th overall pick in the NFL Draft. However, they could swing a blockbuster trade to move up in the order to land a playmaker.

Ben Johnson had two elite running backs at his disposal with the Detroit Lions. He has D'Andre Swift, but the Bears could be interested in bringing Ashton Jeanty to Chicago. However, they may have to move ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders in order to make that happen. CBS Sports' Kyle Stackpole proposed this trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars that would allow the Bears to take Jeanty:

  • Bears receive: No.5 overall pick
  • Jaguars receive: No.10 overall pick, No.39 overall pick and No.148 overall pick

"Let's get crazy," wrote Stackpole. "New Bears head coach Ben Johnson was part of a Lions team that selected star Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall in 2023, so he gets aggressive in getting one of the best running back prospects in recent memory."

The Bears giving up three picks to move up five spots would shake up the first round of the draft. Specifically, it would force the Las Vegas Raiders to pivot if the reports of their interest in Jeanty are real.

Jeanty was the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season and would be an electric addition to the Bears' offense. Trading up to draft Jeanty, however, would likely make D'Andre Swift a trade candidate. Swift signed a three-year, $24 million deal last offseason. That's a lot of money to pay a backup running back when the Bears could find a solid running mate for Jeanty later in the draft.
