Bears place lineman Ryan Bates on injured reserve

The Chicago Bears announced on Saturday that offensive lineman Ryan Bates has been placed on season-ending injured reserve ahead of the team's Week 16 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Bates had already been ruled out for Sunday's contest and hasn't played since Week 11 when he suffered a concussion against the Green Bay Packers.

In an additional move, the Bears announced they've signed running back Darrynton Evans from the team's practice squad.

Evans is expected to fill in for running back Travis Homer, who is listed as doubtful on the injury report as of Saturday night due to a hamstring injury.

Evans was initially signed to Chicago's practice squad on Nov. 26 and has appeared in the past two games, rushing for three yards on three carries while also playing 15 snaps on special teams.

The Bears also added offensive lineman Doug Kramer to the injury report, as he was initially listed as questionable due to a shoulder injury but has since been downgraded to doubtful.

Chicago will need a lot to go their way against a tough Lions team on Sunday if they want to end their eight-game losing streak.

Both teams kick off at noon CT at Soldier Field.
