The Chicago Bears are going into the 2024 season looking to rejuvenate their rivalry with the Green Bay Packers. Super Bowl expectations seem mighty high for a rookie quarterback, so beating Green Bay and possibly finishing with a record above .500 is a good start.

However, Chicago signing a former Packers player has seemingly become a yearly tradition.  It happened again this year.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Green Bay Packers receiver Samori Toure will join the Bears practice squad on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Packers released Toure, a seventh-round pick in 2022.

In 22 regular season games and 251 offensive snaps with the Packers, Toure caught 13 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown. In each of the last two seasons, he played 11 games. Toure caught eight of 18 targets for 78 yards against the New Orleans Saints in 2023, by far the most productive game in his career.

According to Zach Kruse of the Packers Wire:

While he flashed early in his career, Toure never took a significant developmental step and got passed up on the receiver depth chart. By training camp’s end, Toure was no higher than No. 8 at receiver in Green Bay. The Packers kept Bo Melton and Malik Heath behind the top four of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

In Chicago, Toure will join an offense led by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. The Bears are deep at wide receiver, with D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen and first-round pick Rome Odunze leading the way.
