After supporting Simone Biles’ Olympic campaign in Paris recently, Chicago Bears’ Jonathan Owens has returned with a lot of stories to tell about his wife. One of those stories was how the gymnast defeated the safety in a rope climbing competition.
Biles, the renowned Olympic gymnast, married the NFL star in April 2023. The couple initially connected on the dating app Raya in 2020, with the Olympian making the first move.
The NFL safety, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, attended Christian Brothers College High School and later played college football at Missouri Western State University. He went on to sign with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018 but was later waived after suffering a knee injury.
Since then, Owens has had stints with the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans before signing a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears in March 2024. Biles has been a regular presence at her husband’s NFL games, showing her support for his career.
Despite Biles’ immense success in gymnastics, Owens initially had no idea who she was when they first connected. He was impressed by her work ethic and commitment to her craft, which he found motivating.
After their intimate courthouse wedding in April 2023, the couple celebrated their union with a larger wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, surrounded by their loved ones.

Biles recently proved her athletic superiority over her husband in an unconventional rope climbing challenge. The starting safety for the Chicago Bears admitted to underestimating his wife’s exceptional abilities, which she expertly demonstrated during their competitive event.
After skipping a portion of training camp, Owens is back to hone his craft with the Bears for the upcoming season. If all goes well, especially with Chicago’s Caleb Williams running the offense, the team can get out of the rut they have been in for the past few seasons.
