The Chicago Bears will be without veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen for the second consecutive week as Allen continues to recover from a heel injury. Unlike last week, when Allen still traveled with the team, the veteran is not expected to be with the team today against the Indianapolis Colts.
While speaking with reporters on Friday, Matt Eberflus described Allen's decision to not travel with the team as a personal reason. It hasn't been a comforting start to Allen's career. While all accounts continue to indicate that Allen has become a mentor for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the fact is he needs to be on the field. The hope, if not wishful thinking, is that Allen will be ready for the Bears' Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
