The nightmare is over. The Chicago Bears wrapped up their 2024 season with a Week 18 win over the Packers but the fans are happier that they don't have to watch the Bears again for a while than the victory over the bitter rivals.
Now, Bears fans can tune back into what the front office has in store for them. It was made depressingly obvious how far the Bears are from being a dangerous playoff team. Despite seemingly having a ton of talent on the roster, Chicago punched below its weight all season. Now, GM Ryan Poles has to address the weaknesses to get this team back to the postseason.
There will be significant coaching and front office changes across the NFL. The Las Vegas Raiders, after firing head coach Antonio Pierce, announced they are letting go of their general manager Tom Telesco after only one year with the organization. This signals a proper rebuild, which signals an opportunity for the Bears.
Assuming that the Raiders are now more willing to trade away their stars and veterans as they enter a new era with Tom Brady having more of a say, the Bears need to make some calls about Maxx Crosby's availability.
Crosby is the perfect trade target for the Bears. The star defender already voiced his frustration with the franchise and revealed his desire for a change. The four-time Pro Bowler, who is coming off another elite pass-rushing season, would be an excellent addition to pair with Montez Sweat.
It would require a first-round pick and more draft capital to lure Crosby away from the Raiders. The Bears finished the season as a middle-of-the-pack defensive team and the 15th-best pass-rushing unit per PFF. Adding a talent like Crosby would catapult them to another level.
