Bears Draft Pick Already Being Overshadowed by Fellow Rookie

The Chicago Bears have some time off before returning for training camp next month. They were able to make some great additions in free agency and the NFL draft, and the recent organized team activities (OTAs) and mandatory minicamp helped the Bears get a better sense of their outlook.

There are plenty of new faces in the Windy City after Chicago drafted eight players and signed 10 undrafted free agents this spring. Several players from that group wasted no time standing out and overshadowing others, which includes standout performances by first-year studs.

In fact, one Bears rookie is already stealing plenty of attention from a fellow 2025 pick.

Bears Rookie DT Shemar Turner is Overshadowing TE Colston Loveland

Second-round pick Shemar Turner has already started impressing his coaches and teammates over the last few weeks. Meanwhile, first-round pick Colston Loveland has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

Loveland wasn't able to participate in minicamp and OTAs, which isn't what fans want to see from April's 10th overall pick.

In the meantime, Turner has been given praise by his coaches and teammates. When speaking to members of the media in May, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen gave Turner some props for his "explosion and power." Allen added that they are excited to work with him.

Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett also had some got some positive words to say about Turner.

"Just watching him as a player, he has a great natural ability. He's quick, strong and comes from a really good program. Played in some good football in the SEC. He'll be ready to go when it's time to go, but I think me just being able to be in a position of, whether it's leadership or just to inspire somebody else, and to be in the same room with him, after speaking with him, tell me that he watched me when he was in college trying to study NFL, to me, that means a lot. "

Grady Jarrett

Turner is known for his feisty play on the field while owning a chip on his shoulder. That mindset will serve him well in the NFL and has already seen him receive some good reviews.

In 43 college games at Texas A&M, he had 115 total tackles, 24 TFLs, and 10 sacks. Turner is someone who will have a nice role as a rookie. Meanwhile, Loveland has been sidelined due to his shoulder injury and it remains to be seen if he'll be 100% by July.

Hopefully, Loveland can get on the field when training camp rolls around and join Turner so the rookie duo can help bring some much-needed success to Chicago.
